. . . As They Apply to Today’s Christian
There is some ambiguity as to how the old Mosaic law, especially the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17), applies to us today. Some say it has no relevance for us, and some aver that we should obey each injunction of the Ten Commandments. Jesus declared,
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Mat. 5.17, 18)
We should note two things about this statement: 1) Jesus did not destroy the law; and 2) He fulfilled it. The law has indeed been discarded (Heb. 8.13) as far as it concerns us directly, but it has not been destroyed: Jesus fulfilled it in Himself.
