When God frees a sinner from his sin, that is not the end of God’s work in that life. It is only the beginning of a journey toward the fulfillment of God’s will for the one who was heretofore a sinner. It can be likened to the history of God’s dealing with the Israelites who were in bondage in Egypt. Their deliverance from slavery was not the goal; it was merely the first step in the journey to the Promised Land.
